Why We Gather on the Sabbath

A seven-branch menorah with the words “The 7th Day — Shema Yisra’el”

When people first visit Battlefield Assembly, one of the first things they notice is that we gather on Saturday rather than Sunday. It's a fair question to ask why — and the answer goes all the way back to the beginning.

In Genesis, after six days of creation, God rested on the seventh day, blessed it, and set it apart (Genesis 2:2–3). The Sabbath was woven into creation itself before it was ever written into the Law. When the commandments were given, the Father invited His people to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy (Exodus 20:8).

For us, keeping the Sabbath is not about earning anything or about legalism. It is a gift and a delight (Isaiah 58:13). One day in seven, we set aside our labor, we rest, and we turn our full attention to worship, the Word, and one another. It is a weekly rehearsal of the rest we have in Messiah.

Yeshua Himself kept the Sabbath, and called Himself Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28). Following His example, we gather on the seventh day to worship the Father in spirit and in truth.

If you've never experienced a Sabbath gathering, we'd love to welcome you. Come and see — there is rest, joy, and family waiting at the table.

Come worship with us

We’d love to welcome you this Sabbath.
